When schools and businesses close their facilities for periods of time, it’s crucial to implement comprehensive security measures to safeguard the premises. Unoccupied buildings can become targets for vandalism, theft, and other hazards. By adopting a proactive approach, organizations can ensure their properties remain secure and well-maintained during closures.
- Conduct Regular Inspections
Assign personnel or hire security services to perform routine inspections of the property. Regular patrols can deter unauthorized access and promptly identify any signs of damage or intrusion. Engaging private security contractors for regular patrols can provide an added layer of protection.
- Secure All Entry Points
Ensure that all doors, windows, and gates are securely locked. Implementing an end-of-day lock-up procedure, which includes locking all interior and exterior doors and securing gates, is essential. Additionally, posting “Campus Closed – No Unauthorized Entry” signage at all ingress and egress points can deter unauthorized access.
